Jolene + Elvin | M Resort Wedding | Las Vegas Wedding Photography

Jolene + Elvin planned their Vegas destination wedding from their home state of California. They knew they wanted a destination where their friends and family could vacation, party and relax with the nearby amenities on the Vegas Strip, but also wanted a little more intimate, high-end feel for their hotel wedding. They settled on the M Resort, and couldn’t have made a better choice. We met when they were in Vegas planning their wedding, and I immediately sensed their awesome vibe and knew their wedding would be a blast. They came out to Vegas again for final planning a few months before the wedding and I got a chance to do an engagement session for the couple, which doubled as a family portrait session. I love how the couple included their three kids in their engagement photos as well as their wedding day–one daughter was a bridesmaid, another was a flower girl, and their son was the ring bearer.

Jolene + Elvin got ready in separate rooms that afternoon and decided they didn’t want to see each other before the wedding. To get some of our portraits done with natural light, we did separate bridesmaids, groomsmen and family portraits before the ceremony. The couple then did an alternative to a first look, which I like to call a “first touch.” Elvin stood around one corner holding his hand out, and Jolene walked up on the other side of the wall and took his hand. It was a sweet moment for the couple to talk to each other, share excitement about the upcoming ceremony, and calm each other’s nerves. The ceremony was at the pool at sunset, and I loves the dramatic aisle the bridal party walked down between the pool cabanas. After saying “I do,” Elvin grabbed their son and the three of them walked back down the aisle and off into the sunset.

We did some dramatic nighttime portraits around the pool area with the glowing lights of the resort in the background, and then headed up to their reception in the Lux. The room is located on the top floor of the M Resort, and features an amazing view of the Strip in the background. It’s perfect for the Vegas party vibe, with a more luxurious feel. The white linens and florals accentuated the modern feel, while the silver and sparkling details added the romance and glamour. I also loved the personalized shot glasses on each place setting–they showed a bit of the couple’s carefree, fun personalities! The newlyweds and their bridal party made their grand entrance into the room, followed by a beautiful first dance, teary toasts, parent dances, bouquet and garter toss and money dance. When I left at the end of the night, the party was still going strong. I think every single one of their guests was out on the dance floor! What an amazing, fun night for these two lovely people, and I was so happy to be a part of it. Congrats to you and your families, Jolene + Elvin!

Kristina + J.J. | Las Vegas Strip Destination Wedding Photography | Joe’s Stone Crab Wedding Reception

I met Kristina + J.J. a few months back when we did their engagement session at Valley of Fire. We hit it off wonderfully and I loved their romantic, sweet nature with each other. I couldn’t wait to photograph them again on their wedding day. The couple planned their Vegas destination wedding from their home in Pennsylvania, where Kristina actually works as a wedding planner and coordinator. They knew they wanted to get married on the Strip, have a beautiful ceremony with their friemily, and party the night away at a classy joint with amazing food and great cocktails.

They got ready in separate rooms that morning. When J.J. got choked up reading his card from Kristina, I knew it was going to be one of those truly emotion-filled weddings where you feel all the feels (my fave)! Kristina got ready in a suite with three of her closest friends who also happened to be her sorority sisters. She did a tear-filled first look with her dad and then she read J.J.’s sentimental, sweet card. I took the couple outside for a first look by the pool, and the groom’s reaction was just priceless. He slowly turned around, his eyes welled up as he pulled his hand up to his face, and the couple spent a few minutes just holding each other close. First looks are not only so that you can fit more portraits into your wedding day–they are amazing because of the true moment of love and togetherness it creates between you and your spouse-to-be. You share a moment together, you calm each other’s nerves, and you get to have a few minutes just to yourselves before seeing all your guests.

Kristina + J.J. chose to have their ceremony inside the chapel at Mandalay Bay. Since the property has their own chapel photographers, I didn’t get to photograph that portion, but it was awesome to be able to spend the rest of the day with them. After the ceremony, we hopped on a party bus with the rest of the bridal party and headed for the Welcome to Vegas sign. We got some fun shots there and traveled to the Caesars Palace gardens and Bellagio fountains for some sunset couple’s portraits.

Their reception was in Joe’s Stone Crab, a high end prime steak and seafood restaurant inside the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace. It’s one of the best restaurants on the Strip for destination weddings to have a large, classy reception with scrumptious fine dining (seriously, it’s delish). After the couple’s first dance, the bride danced with her dad and both of them shed a few more tears. There’s probably nothing more heart warming than a teary dad on a wedding day–those moments are just priceless. They opted out of having a traditional wedding cake and instead cut into a key lime pie, which found itself all over J.J.’s face. He was so sweet feeding her a piece first, and he definitely didn’t see that one coming. (Jackpot, Kristina!) The group celebrated the rest of the evening in true Vegas style. I couldn’t be more honored to be part of their intimate destination wedding. Congrats, Kristina + J.J.!

Anna + Marc | Springs Preserve Wedding | Las Vegas + Summerlin Wedding Photographer

Anna + Marc grew up in Las Vegas, but now spend their days in quite a different climate in Seattle, Washington. They decided to host their wedding back home and bring their friends and family together to watch them say “I do” at the Springs Preserve, an eco-friendly museum and garden venue just off of the Vegas Strip. After a sentimental first look and some portraits in the cactus alley, they said their vows at the botanical garden arboretum. During the ceremony, Anna + Marc rang a bell together – an Irish tradition which is supposed to bring the bride and groom good luck. After their first kiss, guests waved wedding wands with bells in the air “so that all may hear the pledge of love their hold so dear.” As they walked down the aisle, their friends and family showered them with rose petals.

Afterwards, guests enjoyed cocktails outside among the desert landscaping while I whisked them around the Preserve for some eco-inspired portraits. Anna was absolutely stunning in her modern-glam BHLDN gown and gorgeous blush and pink bouquet of peonies and wildflowers. Since the couple chose to have a small destination bridal party of one bridesmaid and one groomsman, Anna wanted to include all her girls in other ways. She bought them all personalized wayfarer sunglasses with their names on the side, and at the end of cocktail hour we gathered the whole group and did some spontaneous portraits. She also had a group of besties who wore blue hues to the wedding, and acted as her “something blue.” As a last surprise, she bought Marc had his own pair of shades saying “I <3 Anna” on the side, and we did a few cute shots of him expressing that exact sentiment.

Faithfully Yours Weddings & Events coordinated the day, and set up a beautiful reception room, with DIY floral centerpieces made by friends of the bride. After their grand entrance, the couple started with their parent dances, to show appreciation and love to their families. Dinner and toasts ensued, followed by the couple’s choreographed first dance. Near the end of the dance, one guest beside me started blowing bubbles leftover from the ceremony and I caught a few of them perfectly surrounding the couple. At the end of the night, Anna + Marc cut their cake, and guests danced the night away. It a beautiful and intimate destination wedding that truly felt genuine to the couple.

Byanca + Carlos | Linq Hotel, Neon Museum & Downtown Las Vegas Destination Wedding

Byanca + Carlos live with their three adorable children in Central California. They wanted to plan a low key, friends-and-family-oriented destination wedding, and decided Vegas was the perfect spot for everyone to let loose and celebrate. They chose the Linq Silver Sky Chapel as their ceremony location because it’s one of the only chapels on the Strip that you can bring your own photographer into.

The two got ready in separate suites at the Linq Hotel – which has newly furnished rooms that are modern, colorful and stylish. Byanca’s gorgeous rose gold ring perfectly coordinated with her Badgley Mischka heels. After her mom helped her get into her dress, I went to the guy’s room and found the cutest moments between the groom Carlos and their son. He helped him with his colorful bow tie, and Carlos donned his blue suit jacket and pink pocket square (I just love it when a groom chooses a little less traditional suit).

After their chapel ceremony, we headed to Downtown Vegas for some portraits against the colorful walls and murals from local artists. These walls are painted by new artists every year during the Life Is Beautiful music festival, and their work is just incredible. You never know what cool backdrop you’ll find in Downtown Vegas. We also headed to the Neon Museum for some vintage Vegas photos with the couple and their kiddos. The museum contains old, rusty, retired casino and hotel signs – the perfect spot to get that classic, quintessential Sin City look.

Byanca + Carlos had the most amazing destination wedding, but they made it classy and family oriented, with a twist of vintage Vegas vibe. Congrats again, California lovebirds!

Keelin + Adam | Reflection Bay at Lake Las Vegas Wedding Photography

Keelin + Adam are two of the most down-to-earth, fun couples I’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing. Before tying the knot, these two had already been together for many years, and they knew they wanted to celebrate with their friends and family in an intimate, stress free ceremony. Keelin is from Hawaii, and she found one of the most beautiful beaches in Las Vegas to get married at – Reflection Bay Golf Club. The course and country club are a gorgeous desert oasis at Lake Las Vegas, featuring white sand beaches, waterfalls and palms in the background, blooming bushes and tall trees.

Keelin + Adam said “I do” with a stunning view of the lake behind them, and afterwards I took the newlyweds around the beaches and gardens for some sunset portraits. The reception space has a glass wall that opens up to a view of the lake, and guests took advantage of the beautiful Spring evening with cocktails on the patio. After dinner, the bride’s dad did a traditional Banzai toast and the couple shared their first dance, singing to each other and laughing with each other throughout the song. The evening ended with a fun sparkler exit, and the couple made their golf cart getaway back to the Westin Lake Las Vegas. It was a beautiful, intimate wedding day that I’m so happy to have been a part of. Congrats, Keelin + Adam!

Jen + Nick | Springs Preserve Wedding | Las Vegas Wedding Photographer

Jennifer + Nick hail from Los Angeles. When starting to plan their wedding, they knew they wanted to get out of town for their big day, and celebrate with their closest friends and family in their casual style. With the help of their event planner Lavender Grey Events, they chose Las Vegas because of the fun, carefree atmosphere. The couple and their friends stayed on the Strip at the Venetian (where Jen got ready for the wedding day) so they could get that true Vegas, glam experience, but chose to have their wedding off the Strip at one of Vegas’ best kept secrets – the Springs Preserve. It’s part eco-museum, part botanical gardens, with hiking trails, a butterfly habitat, rows of desert cactus, and a cafe with views of the city skyline.

Jen + Nick did a truly joyous first look with each, and she did a truly emotional first look with her dad. The couple said “I do” at the floral-draped garden arboretum and after kissing, they surprised their guests by dancing their way back down the aisle to “Now That We Found Love” by Heavy D. Guests kicked off the party at cocktail hour, while I took the couple around for some dusk photos in the cactus garden. Their ceremony was in the Divine Cafe, the restaurant within Springs Preserve. Tables were set with blush, cream, and wine colored florals with pillar candles and gold votives. Marquee letters on the balcony spelled their names, and guests enjoyed the city view underneath the bistro lights. After a first dance full of laughter, three buffet stations opened up with foods that the couple loves – sliders, Chinese take-out, and mac n’ cheese. Instead of a traditional cake cutting, Jen + Nick opted for something different – a pie cart! Miniature pies of all flavors were available for gobbling up.

Highlights of the night include a special Happy Birthday song and cake presented to the bride’s sister/Maid of Honor. It happened to be her birthday as well, but she was gracious enough to lend the day to her sister. The sisters also did a surprise choreographed dance to their favorite party songs, including Beyonce and Backstreet Boys, during which their guests went wild! These people knew how to dance, and I’ve included some shots of their amazing moves below! It was a truly memorable, laughter-filled destination wedding. Boho Wedding Style + Inspiration | Legends Ranch | Las Vegas Wedding Photography

A few months ago, I combined forces with my friend Paulina (who also happens to be the amazingly talented owner of Paulina Clute Events) to plan a big-time wedding styled shoot. These shoots provide inspiration to brides, foster collaborative partnerships between local vendors and, most importantly, let us all run free with creative energy and design a photoshoot out of our imaginations. Paulina and I settled on a boho chic theme, including a blush, ivory and sky palette, with pops of bold magenta, teal and forest green. Legends Ranch was the perfect place to host our shoot, with a garden and stone courtyard, rustic red barn and lush greenery. It’s the type of place that people never expect to be found in Vegas, but when they do find it, they search no further for their dream wedding venue. We gathered a team of powerhouse local vendors to help bring our vision to life, including a longsleeve lace wedding dress that was custom made by a local wedding photographer friend of ours who is skilled in so many ways. I just can’t tell you how crazy excited I am to show these images to the world, and how proud I am of the level of raw creative talent that comes out of my city.

The day was cool with patches of hazy sunlight, the wildflowers moved in the light breeze, the sweet scent of the cake’s sugar flowers drifted through the air, and we let our bohemian daydream take us away…

Bridal + Wedding Fashion Shoot | Paiute Golf Resort | Las Vegas Wedding Photographer

In late 2015, I was so happy to be asked to participate in the Bridal Spectacular‘s annual magazine photoshoot. This is the fifth time I’ve been a part of one of their wedding fashion shoots, and it was definitely one of my favorites! The shoot took place at Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort just outside of town. If you haven’t been to their venue, you need to check it out! It’s simply amazing – the view of the water from the ceremony arch and the sun setting on the mountains from the full-size windows of the reception room… the serenity of the course takes your breath away. There was only one thing standing in the way of all us photographers and some amazing images… the WIND. I say WIND in all caps because it was quite honestly the windiest day of 2015. The cathedral veils were a-blowin’ and we had to chase them down more than once. Nevertheless, the frozen models pulled all their strength together, the hair and makeup team was on call, the event decor stylists were ready for anything, and it turned out to be one of my most favorite photoshoots ever! I love the setting sun with the desert landscape. It’s truly a unique Las Vegas look that brides and grooms just can’t get anywhere else.

2015 Weddings In Review + Welcome 2016 | Las Vegas Wedding Photographer

In 2015, I had the time of my life photographing these gorgeous, kind, generous brides and grooms. These people made lifetime commitments to each other this year, and most are already onto their next adventures. Some have welcomed new new life into the world (or are expecting), made homes for themselves, started new careers, set off for amazing travels, and now they’re going to ring in their first New Year as a married couple.

Cheers to 2015! And 2016… I just know you’re gonna be over-the-top incredible. It’s a good feeling.
